--The ability IE6 [once] had to pickup where a download left off after a
dropped server connection or broken line connection? I may be in the
middle of a long download and lose a connection, but when I start over
again IE6 starts from the very beginning and doesn't start where it left
off like it used to. Any solutions?

IE has never had that ability (resuming was based on pure luck).

*If* you reconnect to the download site while the partial load is still in
the cache, and *if* the downloading server supports resume, and *if* the
server is not one of many (ie part of a server farm) then just clicking on
the link should allow the download to resume.

It is because of this that I use Opera for downloading, until IE includes a
download manager.

I hate to disagree with you, but I've only used Internet Explorer in one
incarnation or another from IE4 to IE6-- and at some point, IE had the
ability to pick up a dropped connection without any problems.

I hadn't even thought about it until I was in the middle of 20 Mb download
and lost the connection. But when I tried to get back to where I left off
IE6 stated back at the very beginning-- a waste of a lot of time.

Its always been pure luck Ron, though hopefully a future incarnation of IE
*will* have a download manager; its certainly top of the list of improvement
requests submitted by MVPs.

Then Microsoft is to "blame" for this misconception since I read on
the M$ website some webpage pushing the new features of... I think
it was IE5... and one of the features being hawked at the time was
the ability for the new IE5 upgrade being able to re-establish
dropped connections along with auto-complete and enhanced security
features over IE4.
