The last time I was lurking around here a year or more ago, there were those who
claimed BTX would be the standard by now. What happened? Lack of interest? I
just checked NewEgg and see there's only one BTX board available from there.
It's an Intel micro that they would probably have to blow the dust off before
they could ship.

BTX could well live on, in prebult computers. Especially in
some of the smaller form factor products. But for DIY builders,
BTX just doesn't add anythihg of value. A decent sized ATX case,
with room for some large diameter fans, is the "cat's meow".

Poor Intel. "Technology push" doesn't work all the time.
And especially when you don't explain it well.

You'd think the cost of maintaining inventories of retail
processors packed with a BTX cooler plus the ones with an ATX cooler,
would be enough of an incentive for Intel to stop BTX altogether.

BTX never caught on with the manufacturers.

Probably because there was nothing in BTX that couldn't easily be
implemented in ATX. It was change for the sake of change, nothing
ore. -Dave

I think the main thing was the power supply and surprise,
surprise it's just an ATX server power supply.

Intel's full of shit.

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:
