Not necessarily symptomatic of a virus. Could also be a defective/dirty
mouse or other hardware problem.

Always run a scan with AV software that has recent definition updates and
include any output with a post asking for help with a virus.

Thanks to those trying to help.

My system is fine, no virus at all. Just the stylus for my very occasional
graphics tablet lying on the tablet.

It really had me going for awhile though. After reading the two replies and
seeing no similar symptoms in the virus databases of several AV vendors
thinking it through at work I new exactly what the problem would be and
moved the stylus.

I'm glad I did not reformat my HD :)

Oh and BTW
Norton System Works Prof 2003 defs 29/1/04
Windows XP
Logitech cordless mouseman optical.

I asked about your mouse as I had a problem similar to yours with my
Logitech cordless mouse. I used the adaptor connection when I first
installed it, as with the old corded mouse. Seems the new one did not like
the setup and refused to work properly, and doing some really odd things
similar to what you described. So, I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it
using the USB connection method and it has worked fine ever since. I thought
perhaps it your problem might be caused by the same thing. I do feel sorta
like the only onion in the Petunia patch when it seems I'm the only one
things like that happen to. ;-)

Glad you found a solution.

Jan :)

I see you found the problem, but I was thinking it was a java script
thing. There are some of those useless things online that can cause
your mouse to do odd things. Java Script is a major pain in the ass
anyhow, with popups and all that crap. I like to keep it disabled
unless I am forced to use it by some site I badly need to get on.

I hope you beat up that graphics tablet for causing this.....
