What type of disc?

Guys,

Real easy general question here. I bought a Liteon DVD-R/W on sale for £35 a month or two back, and have just now got round to trying to burn a few movies. Now I want to watch the movies I burn on the DVD player in the living room (bog standard Phillips DVD player) but I can't find the manual with the specs.

This Liteon can burn any type of DVD. But which type (R+, R-, - blah blah) of disc do ordinary DVD players usually read?
