I haven't kept up on TV tuner card technology tho

Can you advise good TV tuner card that has outputs for
modern LCD HDTV?

What connection are important that the card needs?

The output to your TV will be via your video card or network connection
(wired or wireless). Very few video cards have HDMI outputs, just S-Video.
Getting S-video to work direct from a PC can be a challenge.
So you choose your tuner card(s) based upon what type of input you have:
Analog or digital-ASTM or QAM, or both or all 3. Then choose your TV
software (compatible with the card), then choose your output source
connection and TV interface. I use a network receiver to bridge the gap
between computer and TV.
Take a look at the Hauppauge HVR-1800 and 1250. Also look at the D-Link
DSM-520. Thats what I have.
Good Luck.

If you don't have a PCI-SI slot then WinTV-HVR 1600 if you have an
open PCI-SI slot then WinTV-HVR 1800.
