There is plenty of image editing software out there but what software is the
best for actually laying the pictures out and printing them ?

I have Easy-Photoprint installed and it's OK but I would like something with
more options for how photos get printed on the page.

The best there is may be Qimage, especially if you are interested in a
color managed application.

Qimage is the best but not the esiest, specially from begining.
But defentely the best.

I like Easy-Photoprint. Using Canon Ink and paper the results are
consistently good. What other type options did you have in mind?

CanWest newspapers (a big Canadian chain)
use QuarkExpress.

Supposed to be a bear to learn, according to a
friend who has just taken a job where they use
it in layout work on a magazine.

I downloaded the trial version of Qimage, very
impressive and good Help and tutorials files.

I downloaded the trial version and printed a test shot. 5 minutes later
I bought the key to the program. That's all it took to convince me that
my Panasonic Lumix, Adobe photo software and my Canon printers were
hopelessly wasted without Qimage. It was like putting glasses on and
finally seeing things clearly. Of course it improved other aspects. But
the sharpness it was producing was most amazing to me. It costs nothing
to try!

Qimage from http://www.ddisoftware.com/ is a low cost printing program that
is reported to be the best thing going. Quark is a very expensive DTP
application used for high end layout. Microsoft Publisher is far easier and
much less expensive, but the best deal around for an equally good DTP
application is the FREE version of Serif PagePlus.
http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/ PhotoPlus, DrawPlus, WebPlus and 3dPlus
are also available. These aren't the latest versions, but the price is right
and they are legal copies direct from Serif.

Yes, that's my dynamic duo: Qimage and Serif PagePlus 11 - the newest
version, the real mcCoy, not one of the old freebies floatin' around the
Net ;-). Regular customers usually get it for less than half price.
That's one of the loyalty perks we get. I wouldn't touch MS Publisher if
they gave it to me free. ;-)
