What software do I use to rip CD tracks and streaming audio to MP3?

I would like to know how to copy songs from streaming audio on the Web and
from CD's to MP3 format on the hard drive.

There are roughly a jillion such pieces of software available. Google for
mp3 or simply go to www.mp3.com. You will find all kinds of possibilities.
