I don't know what your question means.

It is impossible to back up drivers once they are installed as far as I am
aware..

DriverGuide has lots of stuff, and most of it is worth 'zip'.. I have not
heard much good said about the utility.. nothing actually..

I've found quite a lot of drivers on DriverGuide over the last couple of
years. I played with the backup thingy, but not enough to claim to have
"tested" it.

I'd be very interested in a recommendation for a "better" driver source, if
you have one?

I wish that I could say the same.. it has gotten to the point where, if I am
directed to DriverGuide. I give up..

I think that with the cost of peripheral devices being what they are these
days, it is not worth trying to get some older device to work.. basic
drivers, assuming availability, may get something out of the device, but in
many cases, lack of a proper support package renders the older device as
good as useless..

If you look at the situation with printers as an example.. there is only the
basic XP driver available for an older printer.. Win 9x/ME was well
supported, there being a comprehensive configuration program.. that no
longer works with XP, so no more checking ink levels or anything else for
that matter..

OK, so you can work with that.. it was nice to have the luxury.. but you are
also stuck with an older printer that is not as ink efficient as new ones,
indifferent colours, slow output.. who needs that!!!!..

And no, I don't know of anyplace other than manufacturers for device drivers
