What software can edit ati .vcr files?

I think the .vcr files are proprietary to ATI.
Try recording in mpeg or avi if you want to edit.
 
But I really like the caption feature. Is it possible to
record caption with avi or mpeg formats? How? I'm using
ATI AIW8500DV and Multimedia Center 8.5.
