Hi

Have you seen any warning messages in the event log
Try disable the auto-restart feature and then post back the warning messages in the next time when windows auto shut down

What set[ting] do you think your power supply isn't set to
do? The only settings I know about are 110-120 vac or
220-240 vac on the back. Otherwise, PS are fixed by design.

If you mean power management settings, to control actions
when you shutdown, those are in the power management section
of the control panel. They sometimes get changed while
doing Windows Update.

But your problem is most likely HEAT! HP uses cheap and
small, power supplies which then have to run at or near
maximum rated output and that causes heat to build up. Use
causes dust and dirt to collect which also raises the heat
retained. Finally, people add RAM, drives and more USB
devices. Heat can cause restarting and or slow downs.
