What should I know about photos (+ gif question)

Dont know too much about about what XP can do for me re photos - any good
links?

I am also trying to download somthing which is a gif file - cant open it -
any ideas what I can do?

A good starting point might be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIF.

If you can't open GIF files, it might be a good idea to install Irfanview
(www.irfanview.com), a free tool that can open zillions of graphical files.
