I need to upgrade my internet security.I have windows xp and use comcast broadband internet . What co. system McAfee of Norton should I use? I was told that Norton can be a problem with the XP ?
Also what exactly should I get
Fire wall for sure, and Virus protection? Anything else I must have ?

To secure your computer and prevent future security breeches,
consider installing a first-rate internet security program:

Norton Internet Security 2004
http://www.symantec.com/sabu/nis/nis_pe/

-- Includes Norton AntiVirus 2004
-- Includes Norton Personal Firewall
-- Includes prevention of annoying web pop-ups
-- Includes Parental Controls
-- All in one, easy-to-install package

Firewall and Virus, which you choose is up to you. One persons prob. app is
another persons godsend.
Personally I use Symantec on both win2K and WinXP with few probs.

I have cable connection, and I use both software (Norton SystemWorks2003,
renewed once) and hardware (Netgear router) for security. I have used
Norton for many years on a variety of computers and have not had any
problems, although I have many of the same reports you mentioned. At the
present time, I am using a Compaq 8000 computer with Win XP-Home Edition.

Do not focus so much on which is better as they are pretty much the
same in that respect.
Pick the utilities base on what you are comfortable and will use
regularly.
A computer with the proper tools but updated infrequently is almost
more dangerous than a computer with no tools because of the false
security you may feel.

I personally prefer Norton Internet Security

If money is an issue try AVguard and Zone Alarm, both free for
personal use.
