Chris

Alright first off, im running a p4 2.6ghz 800mhz fsb with a gefroce 4 ti
4400. Im using pc 3200 ram 512meg. I have a 19 inch monitor. I currently run
all my games at 1024 by 768. Should i be running my games at higher
resolution? And if so what one and what kind of performance decrease will I
get and how much better will the picture be. Also I hear alot about
Antialiasing and Antiscoptic stuff. If i set this to 8x and 4x will I get
alot better picture and once again what kind of performance decrease as i
have never used it. I will be upgrading to a Radeon 9800 pro in a few months
so hopefully i can run all this stuff then. Plz all you video card experts
:) Give me some info :) Thanks

I would say that after all is said and done the best resolution would be one
where your eyes feel comfortable after an extended amount of game play.

Turn things up to the max at 1024x768 and if you FEEL fine, then stay there.
You don't need to go any higher than 1024. A nice 21" monitor would
obviously prefer a higher res... . Me, I stay at 1024x768 and am only just
starting to turn on the anti and filtering stuff. Some of the hardware
pages out there will let you know the difference when changing to a higher
res. It's usually quite a drop on some of the older cards depending on what
game you play.

Is it true that your mouse is more precise at higher resolutions?

You should deffenatly raise you res. 1280x960 and 2XAA looks better than
1024x768 and 4xAA. Allso, the higher the reolution the lover the AF
setting is needed.

Actually, you need a more precise mouse for the higher resolutions.

Its all a matter of personal choice. I much prefer 1024x768 with
4XFSAA.

I like 1600x1200 with 2xAA and 4x AF on my 19" monitor. I am soon going to
play with v-sync and see if locking it is acceptable.

1024x768 is the "standard" bench size to gauge graphic/gaming ability.

I play as high as the game & system can handle it... some game are not
HIGH-RES savvy.

I play UT in 1280x1024. UT2003 in 1280x1024, Some older games,
less. Call Of Duty runs fine on my system in 1600x1200 - max
details.

If it's fine by You, OK. I choose a higher res. because I hate to waste
all those pixel. What I mean is that the image is to "grainy" on a low
resolution like 1024 for my taste.

If I can run a game acceptably at higher resolutions, then I do, but
4XFSAA is a minimum requirement for me.

I never V-Synced until I got the ATI9800Pro... a little too fast ;)
