The FireGL cards are basically the same hardware as the Radeons, but with a
few little hardware differences possibly and they are unlocked for the extra
abilities that the FireGL drivers provide.

So what is the equivalent Radeon to the FireGL V3400?

Radeon X1300

Thanks, but I have found it is more like the Radeon X1600 XT. In fact, they
even look the same, but the FireGL is twice the price.

Oops, I meant Radeon X1600 PRO.

Then you found something wrong. The FireGL V3400 is definitely basically
a X1300 and not a X1600...

So you are saying that the FireGL V3400 has RV515 GPU and not a RV530 ?

This is what the chart here:
http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=88 says that the X1300 and
X1600 have compared to the data here:
http://www.ati.com/products/workstation/fireglmatrix.html for the V3400

X1300 X1600
FireGL V3400

Processor RV515 RV530
?
Vertex Pipelines 2 5
5
Pixel Shader Engines 4 12
12

What you say also conflicts with what is said on this page:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/quadrofx-vs-firegl_5.html

I'm new to all this (as I have just bought Matrox cards until now, but there
is no PCIe Parhelia, and it's getting a bit old anyway) but it looks to me
like the V3400 has a RV530 processor. like the X1600.

Anyway, I just found a good deal on a V5200, which I think also has a RV530
processor, apparently.

I have to correct myself, the V3_4_00 is indeed based on a Radeon X1600
(the V3_2_00 is based on the X1300). I had a look at a V3400 at work and
did some tests, the V3400 is in most tests a bit slower than a Radeon
X1600...

Sorry for the confusion...
