This is a useful site for determining what size PSU you need !!
Is there a better way though ?

Mine came to 648W

I have 700W at the moment so just about covered.

I figured my previous 480W Tagan PSU wasn't enough when the digital display on my monitor wouldn't work. When I disconnected the two optical drives and the floppy disk drive, it worked.

So I splashed out on a 700W PSU. Could have done with a little more I guess, but all's running well.

See this posted before, but its a good time for a reminder, and i am glad you posted it Rush. :thumb:

Mine came out at 475w.......I got a 480w Tagan......
New PSU time me thinks, even though its never faltered.....

Interestingly, i then did it for the same setup but with an E6600 and it dropped by 90w!

Hmmmmm...... I got a fat bonus today too....

mine comes in at 368W which is good considering i only have a 400W PSU in this one, might swap it for my 480W Tagan if that site is accurate

It is a guide, a damn good one and I see it has been updated again ... nice.

However, and I quote ...

The recommended total Power Supply Wattage gives you a general idea on what to look for BUT it is NOT a crucial factor in power supply selection! Total Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most important, followed by the +5V amperage and then the +3.3V amperage. Example: PSU you want to buy has 400W total wattage output but only has 16A on +12V rail. But your configuration might require 20A on +12V rail.
... you know the "game" by now. ;)
