What program occasionally flashes past on the taskbar?

Once an hour or so, a program icon flashes past on the taskbar, a very
generic looking one as far as I can see...I'd like to find out what it
is. I have no reported spyware but have never seen this sort of quick
app load & unload before. I've not found a place that XP Pro records app
load events...any help appreciated.
