What Processor to get for a computer.

Well i'm thinking of which processor to get for my computer since i'm still new at making computers and i'm extremely low on money. i wanted to know which processor is better for a person who wants a computer for work and play. but does not kno which to go for, AMd ot Intel can Anyone please help me.

P.S can anyone please give me a website that teaches how to read and write C/C++ and all other computer languages.

Intel Dual-Core seem to be better than AMD Turion 64 x2.
