Hi,

Does anyone know which ports need to be left open on a Sygate SPF5.1
firewall for my Win98 SE machine to share with my wifes XP Home machine
running ipconfig on the XP gives me the following (last digits blanked
just in case)
IP Address 10,0,0,xxx

Subnet mask 255,255,255,xxx

Default Gateway 10,0,0,xxx

Gerald

| Client Port(s) | Server Port | Service |
+=================+=============+=====================================+
| 137/UDP | 137/UDP | NetBIOS Name |
+=================+=============+=====================================+
| 138/UDP | 138/UDP | NetBIOS Netlogon and
Browsing |
+=================+=============+=====================================+
| 1024-65535/TCP | 139/TCP | NetBIOS Session

Although I would recommend you configure a VPN through the firewall rather
than open up these ports.

Thanks,

Opening ports is more trouble than it's worth, and it could cause
security holes that let Internet hackers in.

Just configure the firewall to allow access by computers in the
10,0,0,xxx range of IP addresses.
