Hello,

Recently whilst removing my soft camera bag from the car I picked it up by the
top handle. I had not clicked together the straps and as I picked it up the bag
swung open. It contained one of my digital still camera's. The camera slid out
of the bag and landed on the concrete ground. The drop was only around 2 feet
but it was enough !!

Both batteries fell out and on replacing them I saw that a small piece of the
plastic was missing from the edge of the battery cover. The piece missing is
around the size of a small match head. and it was that all import piece that
causes the cover to sit properly and neatly....So I sent it to Olympus for
replacement.....I was expecting a bill of perhaps £20 - £30 plus
postage/packing.

As an afterthought I opened up the packaging and changed one of the options on
the form which requires Olympus to tell me in advance of the cost, and I am
glad I did. Two - Thee years ago the camera cost the wife £175...this week
Olympus wanted £110 to replace the battery cover !!!!

You can guest what I told Olympus they could do....and you would be right

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes, At least you were smart enough to know
what to do. Some people like to use those free camera bags but I found out
you get what you pay for. I would recommend Samsonite Camera & Video
Worldproof Compact Bag, but then again that is only my view. It would not be
right to preach any brand to you.

Hello,

Thank you for your concerned comment. The soft bag was a replacement for a
Samsonite bought at J.C. Penny's the time before last I was in the States.....I
replaced it because it fell apart on me...AND, prior to that we had to have the
shoulder strap re-stitched...I won't buy one of those again.
