BTW, the latest update to Google Earth will not work correctly with
Omega drivers... see the G_E readme accompanying the latest update..

I'm curious to know why Omega drivers exist in the first place -- are
the ATi driver writers/QC testers that incompetent ??
From personal experience Google Earth works fine with the Omega drivers in
both OpenGl or DX. Just tried it again to make sure nothings changed
overnight - fine.

Different optimizations. The Omega drivers are written by ATI and their
controllable parameters tuned by Omega.

Google Earth has been updated to 3.0.06xx

Here is the quote from the release notes of this version:-

"Compatibility
..........................
..........................

-The ATi Omega drivers are not supported. If used they may produce
frequent crashes of the client. Use only manufacturer recommended
drivers.

I have the latest version of GE. Omega drivers are not official and are not
supported by anyone. No problems here.

"Not supported" means exactly that--it means you call their tech support and
tell them that you're using Omega drivers and their tech support won't try
to help you.

If I call my ISP and tell him that there's a problem with my Exchange server
communicating with his email system I'll get the same thing--doesn't mean
it doesn't work reliably, means that if it goes toes up it's my problem,
not theirs.
