Hello All,

For some reason the following key is continiously changed from 0 to
400:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX
Compatibility\{3B7C8860-D78F-101B-B9B5-04021C009402}

This registry setting, if set to 400, will delete active X controls
from any code you might be working on MS Visual Studio 6.0 - it will
litterally remove the component. And, every time I switch it back to 0
from 400, something set's it back to 400.

Why would MS prevent someone from using a control, such as a Rich Text
Box control, which comes natively as part of another MS product?

Any direction would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Trip

Normally, this may occur if there is a conflict with someother RichEdit
control. Check in ActiveX Controls and see if there are any duplicates
loading RichText.

Do you have SpywareBlaster?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
ActiveX Compatibility\GUID#

If Compatibility Flags DWORD value is set to 00000400, the kill bit is set.

SpywareBlaster sets most all to 400.

Maybe another anti-spyware program that you have does the same thing.

[[The problem appears to be that Microsoft have introduced a new security
feature aimed at stopping certain ActiveX controls from running in Internet
Explorer. This is in the form of some registry entries that define the
compatibility of these controls. ]]
