there must be something up with the file , after 2 days of trying still no
luck downloading it

I'm running beta2 5384 on a 120Gb partition with 97Gb free space I'm
dowloading build 5536, I'm saving it to the "downloads" folder and each time
the download reaches 92%. I get a fatal error message saying "There's not
enough space in the specified location" what is with that ????

I just used my browser (Netscape 7.2, Mozilla), not the Akamai download
manager. Took about an hour on home cable modem.

This is just totally screwed up now the download finished I went to check if
the file was there where I saved it and it was but it was only 721 Kb in
size and after I closed the folder it disappeared ??? the the hell is with
that ????? and now I can't find a trace of it at all again
Has anyone got any ideas???

Did you use normal download or the download manager? Are you sure that
the file you saw was not some temporary file and/or the file has been
moved? IE is (was?) bad when downloading files, it would download them
to Temporary Internet Files (I think, might have been another folder)
and then copied the file to where you specified. Did not work very well
when downloading files 1+GB with very little space on C:.

You can try to seach for newly created files.

I had this problem repeatedly when originally downloading vista x64 from
within x86. the workaround i found for that was making sure you right click
on internet explorer and hit run as admnistrator, then paste in the url for
the director. only thing i can guess is that there is something within the
protected mode service of internet explorer that is having problems
transfering the file from temp to the user directory.

you could have a point there It may be the protected mode causing some of it
however it wasn't in my temp directory at all
I will try running it as admin and see how I go.
But I'm getting more and more of a feeling that the server may have crashed
due to high demand, because I've tried downloading without a download
manager and it only gives me small fragments and then it shows "download
complete" it also does this when I try downloading from Xp pro with Ie6

Forgot to mention, I downloaded on XP Pro, not Vista. And I used
Netscape 7.2 browser (Mozilla), not the Akamai manager. Like all
downloads in Netscape 7.2 it uses the Netscape/Mozilla download manager.
Apart from displaying the size of the file wrong (too big a number!),
everything worked correctly.

Where does the Akamai manager store the file. It says it finished, I closed
the program and now, no file.

Any ideas.
