what is Windows XP doing when it says "Loading your personal Settings"?

I'm trying to figure out why it takes so long for my PC to boot up.

If it's loading Policies, I thought Fast Boot was suppose to delay this.

I'm not using roaming profiles....

My server is Win 2000 sp4

How can I troubleshoot the time it takes to load my personal setting?

Thanks

Kelvin

thanks for the reply.

I checked the DHCP settings on my server and it has four DNS IP addresses
listed. It sounds like I need to delete all but the server its self.
DNS is setup with a Forward and is using two of the IP Adresses listed in
the DHCP setting.

Is 5 seconds a reasonable value for Forwards Time-Out?

I would assume from this that when I run IPConfig /all that I would only see
my local DNS server listed, as the server will do the forwarding, is this
true?

Thanks for the input!

Remove any external DNS servers from any and all static IP configs - and
from your DHCP scope.

Whose DNS servers are you using, and do they use recursion?

Yes.

Make sure AD DNS is set up properly. All servers and workstations
should specify *only* the internal AD-integrated DNS server's IP
address in their network settings. The AD-integrated DNS server
should be set up with forwarders to your ISP's DNS servers for
external resolution. See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300202 for
more info.
