it from there. Be forewarned that Media Encoder doesn't come with the same
intuitive user interface that you might associate with Microsoft
applications. It's challenging to learn, but if you are patient and willing
to experiment you'll find it very powerful.
 
Which version you use depends on your target client. If your users are
going to be using Windows Media Player 9 then you should take advantage of
Windows Media Encoder 9. Both are free downloads. The codecs are much
better than the earlier ones. Encoder 9 also supports older codecs so you
can target a stream (or file) to older versions of the player.
