I ran across a folder while creating a web page that was named _vti_cnf.
What is the purpose of this folder/file?

It is where FP stores the configuration info for pages within the folder containing this folder. Do
not delete any of the _vti folders, and never copy them between locations.

I am joining this discussion because I have copied between locations. Should
I delete them?

Yes! They are only need on site that have the FP extensions, and then FP will then create them as
needed on the server during publishing.
