Virus Guy

Even though it is displaying a "service load" of between 0 and 100%
(which would indicate it is doing *something*), every time I submit
something to it, I get a screen that says "Scanning service has
stopped - we'll e-mail you the results".

And even though I've given it an e-mail address, I've gotten no e-mail
from them.

What's up with Virus Total? Totally f'd up I'd say...

OK -- The Beta version of Virus Total has been released.
It should work as expected only now it will show the result of each scanner upon its
completion.

Just tried it.
A definite improvement.
I find it always helps to get feedback about progress while waiting.

Maybe there are many people who want their files examined, because
their own scanner cannot identify the intruder?

There is a polymorphic virus (sic), spreading over file sharing
networks, which is hard to detect and might worry quite a number of
people. Its name is Polipos, and Dr Web claims it is getting spread
more and more.

At least it *does* infect *files*, increasing their size by 70 kb, and
according to heise, other renowned anti virus companies can't identify
it.

So be careful with your downloads.
