what is up with this!

in the run command msconfig, in startup, i always disable the msn messenger box that will stop it from starting up but even though i disable it, it still starts up by itself when i connect to the net or it loads privately because i was in task manager and it just popped up when i logged into my computer and when i connected to the net...how can i stop this....btw it isn't msn 6.1 it is the older 1....please help

You can't disable Messenger using msconfig, instead just open up Messenger, click the Tools
menu, then Options, then Preferences tab (or General tab, depending on what version you're
referring to), uncheck 'Run this program when Windows starts', 'Run Windows Messenger when
Windows starts', or 'Automatically run Messenger when I log on to Windows' (all depending on
version) and click OK.

This is a common question. Why don't you review the thread "MSN Messenger
vs Windows Messenger" posted by Tom Cholipski on 4/24/2004 11:12 PM.

It's confusing because one is Windows Messenger (V4.7) and the other is MSN
Messenger (V6.1). There is also a Windows Messaging Service that you can
turn off.

hi it was doing that to me to but how i stop it was going

into windows task manager click on the name then end
process go to progarm files find messenger folder open it
and delete the .exe
