When I boot my computer, I get a dialog box reading "Windows Internet
Explorer" "Tree None." What is wrong?

Thanks for the response. I saw that question on Yahoo, just a half hour ago
and there wasn't an answer. It is the Weather Channel Desktop doing it. When
I exit the program and start it back up, I get the error message. I removed
it and reinstalled, but I'm still getting the error message.

Then perhaps you should just REMOVE it? WTF do you need the Weather
Channel Desktop for. Just click an icon and go to the site when you
need the weather.

Hi Bob,

No need to be rude. I have had the weather channel desktop icon for years
and I like it. Instead of clicking on an icon and waiting for internet
explorer to go to a site, I can just look at the system tray to see what the
temperature is and if bad weather is on the way. Seems much easier to me.

Not trying to be rude, but I just don't see the logic. You have an app
on your system that is throwing errors. Obviously it is poorly
programmed. It has an impact on your system performance as well as
your network. It's only advantage is that it saves you 2-5 seconds
checking the weather a couple times a day.

I can't see the sense in keeping it installed.

I can't install any sense. Maybe I need a drink.

If the software does not have a Vista update then perhaps it's time for
another weather program.
There must be loads of weather gadgets for the sidebar etc.

It is doing it on Windows XP too.

It depends on where you live. It is nice to be able to look down and
see if it is 20 below zero or 20 above so I know if I need to start my
car 15-20 min before I leave or just to warm it up mid-day! Not so
critical to me in the summer.

I realize the program has its issues...

I live where the slogan is "don't like the weather? wait a minute".

I still can't see how it's worth running another app in the background
to tell me the weather when I could double click a desktop icon, or
even single click a task bar icon, to get the same information
(actually a whole lot more).

YMMV.

Well I downloaded the Weather Desktop to try it. I downloaded the
installer from weather.com's site:
http://www.weather.com/services/downloads/?from=footer

It is now version 6.00.10.
I loaded it onto a Vista Ultimate box with IE7, no problems apart from the
Ask Toolbar
which I removed. No error messages about 'Tree none'.
So if your version is an earlier one try updating it.
If your version is 6.00.10 then maybe something else is giving you
problems, antivirus or something like that.
Thanks, I will check it out.

The "Tree None" error dialog box is not coming up now. I had the latest
version on all three of my computers. The only thing I did was fill out a
survey on their web site and told them to get rid of it. I really don't know
if that's what fixed the problem, but I removed the program from two
computers and reinstalled it and the error dialog box was still was coming
up. I just left them alone and clicked on the dialog box and a couple of
days ago it stopped. When I installed the program, I didn't let it install
the "Ask Toolbar" or the "Weather Channel Toolbar." That may be why you
didn't have the error, but again I don't know. Thanks for you help and
feedback.
