Can anyone tell me if I can set the registry key to have deleted items
emptied when closing outlook.

I know there is a setting but I would like to push this out to our user pc's
as people in our firm have not emptied their deleted items for 5 years.

So I would like to force it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From Appendix A of my latest book, the policy setting for Outlook 2003 is:

Key: HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Preferences
Value name: EmptyTrash
Value type: REG_DWORD
Value data: 1 = Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting Outlook
0 = Don’t empty the Deleted Items folder on exit

Should be:

Outlook 2003 = 11.0
Outlook 2002 = 10.0

I have looked at registy on three different pc's
One with Office 2003

Two with Office XP

Do not find entry.

Did you try adding the key/value I suggested?
