What is the purpose of the Surveyor Service?

Can someone explain to me what the purpose of the Surveyor
service is?

What are its dependencies etc?

Trying to write up a process doc for tightening down a
windows 2000 web server and need to find out what exactly
its purpose is and what would happen if it were set to
disabled.

Much appreciated...
 
I don't believe this is part of the OS. Some other product probably
installed it. Try finding the executable it's tied to and viewing its
properties.
 
I'm not 100% sure, but I think I seen it a couple of years ago and if memory
serves it's a Compaq service....
