What is the correct procedure to completely reinstall IE6 on a Windows XP
Pro computer?
I'm told you must edit the register.

computer. They even install activex components stealthly.

Thank you for the suggestion but it didn't work - neither did a reinstall of
Windows XP. The only way I was able to get IE6 working again was to do a
clean install of XP.
This all happened when I visited www.crack.am - must have been a worm that
only affected IE6 because Navigator worked fine.

Double-check if you have changed the correct registry key. Coz, there are
several similar keys in that location. Visit
www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and download the fix named "enable
reinstallation of internet explorer".
This fix automatically sets the IsInstalled flag value to 0. Restart Windows
and start Internet Explorer setup again.
