I am newbie, if I posted 20 minutes ago but don''t see my post, did I do
something wrong? how do I check?

Thanks so much for your help. I was told to input a fake email address to
avoid spam, is that good advice or should I change that to the correct one?
I have a dsl through att so newgroups are provided, again I am a newbit that
is trying to learn very fast.

It's fine - you'll notice that mine isn't exactly "real". It should not
prevent your post from appearing.

Good advice since newsgroups are mined by software collecting email
addresses which are sold to spammers. You can post directly to the MS
server and avoid any delay in your posts. Set up an account in OE using:
msnews.microsoft.com for the server name

Okay, but I am a newbie, I think that is what we are called, so I use a
different server address, if it isn't too much trouble, could you give me
exact directions. if I don't have even 1 step i get lost. i poosted for a
newb ie guide but my post never appeared????

Note: these instructions are for changing from your current news server to
a ms server. If you subscribe to other than MS newsgroups on your current
server and want to continue to do so, then you will have to modify the
instructions below to create another news account.

Open Outlook Express, click on Tools and Accounts. Click the News tab,
highlight your news account and click the properties button. Click the
server tab and in the server name box enter: msnews.microsoft.com and
if the login box immediately below it is marked, unmark it as no log in is
required. Click OK and close up the screen. Click on Tools again and click
on Newsgroups. Let the newsgroups download and then subscribe to the ones
you want to follow.
