What is the best way to use my partitions

A

Adam

Hello everone

I have a 80 gb hard disk with 3 partitions. Everything is on my c drive. I
am going to move my data onto the D drive.
1.How do I move my favourites, and Outlook express data and settings etc
onto the D drive and
2.What do I do to make sure that in future they go there automatically.

Also,
3. Is there any advantage to moving my programs, (office xp, Norton, Nero,
etc) onto a seperate drive.
4. Are there any types of programs that generally have to be on the same
drive as the OS

Thank

Download TweakUI for XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

TweakUi will make it easy to move the special Windows
folders to another drive.

I'd move MY DOCUMENTS to D: and then in Outlook
Express/Tools/Option/maintenance you can also move the
"store" folder the My Documents folder.

I don't think there is a great deal of benefit to having
system files and application files on a different drive. If
your system crashes you'll probably have to reinstall the OS
and the applications. Just be sure that you save your data
and downloads on a separate partition. If you have the
space, you could mirror the C: drive on E: as a back-up.
But a second hard drive would be better.

You need this program, Application Mover. Get it from download.com and it
will move your programs for you, AND, more important, it will reset
the path automatically. No headaches, easy to use. :)
