Hi all,

I am considering using MS Outlook that came with my Office2000 package. I
also was considering getting my wife's computer on Outlook as well - what is
the best way so that we can share and be aware of each others calendars and
contacts? Obviously, since this is a home application, there aren't large
data that we are dealing with - what is Exchange? I don't need it to do
what I want do I?

Thanks.

you may also want to consider Outlook Plus - it allows you to share
folders between users and have public folders like Exchange but
without needing an exchange server. I am just testing it out myself
and it seems okay

As I thought! But, it did get me looking through the help files again. Good reading. <g>

However the tip for Outlook Plus led me to a great, albeit quirky at times, program. I now have a new partition (not necessary,
just me being quirky) for Outlook files, and am sharing contacts & and calendar with my wife. All for only $40.

Thanks Chris. This works great!

It seems to be a little flaky on the public folders though. I will
need to keep playing I guess

Yes, it took me some time, but I think I have it know.

Is there a way to sync it with my contacts/calendar?

Steve

Not sure

Mine totally fell apart yesterday when I added another user on the
network. It may take some time until I get it back as I think I will
just remove it all and start from scratch. It ran great for a week so
I think it is worth the effort

I did some testing last night.

I exported the data on the shared folders to a .pst file, then imported it to my main calendar & contacts. It worked fine on the
contacts, but the calendar kept getting double entries. Know of a good way to blank out the main calendar?

Keep trying as it does work. It seems to not like it when you mess with it after it is setup though!

You can not share calendar without Exchange. If you do not want to use
Exchange and do want to share your calendar in your home, you can try
other softwares, please visit http://www.winpim.com to have a look.
It's an all-in-one pim software with easy multi-users system and with
an included network solution. Easy and low cost solution!
