Hello everyone

I have to move an e-mail account and all the mail inside it from a windows
user to another. Computer dos not change just the user name. What is the best
way to do this?

In the account email is downloaded from the isp by pop3 protocol so all the
e-mail is on the harddrive of the computer.

For outlook 2000 i did this by exportin a .PST (dont remember exactly) file
and importing it under the new user. This didn't work under outlook2002.

Exess info:

Outlook 2002 (office XP)
windows XP sp1
size of inbox 2GB

FWIW, PST file(s) will corrupt as they approach 2GB. (They are limited in
how many items per folder and total size of file. 2GB is the file size
limit. Item limit is 16,000 or 65,000 items <- depends on whether or not
large table support is on. Outlook 2002 turns large table support on by
default. Outlook 97/2000 users need to turn it on.)

As for the question, moving the PST file from one operating system user
profile to another should be as simple as copying the PST file to a
<drive>/<path> that the user has full read/write access to. From there it,
the user can select File | Open | Outlook Data File and open the PST file.
If they wish to set it as the default, then that can be done under Tools |
Email Accounts | View/Change accounts. There should be a dropdown at the
bottom to pick which PST should be the default delivery location.

Could I have been that stupid not to check the user rights for the folder?
Well i'll be checking this out and get back to you. In the mean time all
other suggestions are wellcome.

Thank you for a quick reply neo.

Oh and this just comes to mind... Microsoft does not support/recommend the
use of PST files located on network shares.
