I am looking for a good reliable registry repair utility. Preferrably free.

Anyone heard of RegCure available at cleanerror.com?

Thanks.

Dennis

There is no "good reliable registry repair utility". The only way to fix
a registry problem is with research.

Please describe, as specifically as you can, which registry keys or
subkeys need to be repaired and we'll show you how to do it.

No matter what application you choose - the only 100% reliable one is one
combined with careful research and backups of the system for each entry you
decide to do something with.

Registry cleaning programs are *all* snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

If that quotation is by the company which makes and sells the product,
it certainly doesn't surprise me. Nevertheless, it's completely wrong.

The only "good" method of ever cleaning a XP registry is to do a fresh
install of XP and install all XP service packs / updates. Then, only
install the latest versions of the applications you use / need.
