Monkey With A Typewriter

Sure... may be a dumb question, but I don't know. I did a search and can't
figure it out.

Strangely enough, I have also searched and could not find a decent website
to explain it either.

Start with a hard disk manufacturer. For example,

http://www.maxtor.com/en/technologies/serial_ata/faq.htm

ATA itself is not really a meaningful acronym - "advanced technology
attachment". I guess that it was more advanced than the interface it
replaced, in the early 90's (not sure on the dates - it was standard on my
first "IBM compatible" in 1995).

HTH.

I would think the it is just a hard drives used in a raid array that
has the new SATA conection instead of the IDE type connector...just
spin to sell ....
