I am looking to buy a new battery for my Toshiba a75-s209 laptop.
I already have seen warnings against 'refurbished batteries, and so I
will go for a new one. I can only hope that if a vendor says the
battery is new that it really is. The model is PA3383U-1BRS.

I see in Google searching that some of this battery are listed as
'Primary LI-ION' and 'Primary Lithium Ion'. My Googling of this term
has not shown me what this means.

Should I worry about this? Are all batteries (at least of this model)
'Primary', whether said to be or not?

Another question I have is how long one of these 12-cell batteries
should sustain its strength. Right now, I only get about 45 minutes!
That seems not very long to me.

Thanks in advance

Some laptops have slots for upto two batteries, so in those cases, one
would be primary and one would be secondary. Nothing else meant by it.

Most laptops only have room for one battery, so you shouldn't think
about it at all.

45 minutes is typical of a battery that's near the end of its life. A
12-cell battery is the ultimate long-lasting battery that you can buy
usually, since most batteries these days are six-cell only. If a 6-cell
battery gives you around 4500 kW-hr, then a 12-cell should give you
around 7000 kW-hr; not quite double, but much, much better. So depending
on your particular machine and its power-settings, you should get
between 3-8 hours with a 12-cell.

Plus, I wouldn't worry about refurbished batteries. Depending on how
cheaply you can get them, you should be able to buy two of them for the
price of one, and then if one is bad, the other one might be better.
There's no guarantees about how good a new battery is either, afterall,
when you bought your laptop, it came with a new battery, but look at it
now. :)
