Here are some suggestions. you can execute them in any order your guts feels
like.
First, try empty the temporarely internet files. If you have a large cache
and it is full, weird thing will happen to explorer (at least it was still a
problem with the fore last IE update) Restart your IE and try again.
If you stil have problems (also with other sites - would be strange since
you *can* post, but, well, it just might be *IT* - I've seen this irrational
sollution work before)
Reboot your computer, reboot any netwerk components in the path to the
internet (Adsl modems, routers, ect). My SMC wireless router has problems
with big downloads somehow. And blocks any new connections to the internet,
but keeps the old ones open. And yes, I disabled the NAT and any other might
be blockades (Of course I only found this out after the waranty expired.
Good old Murphy!)
Be sure to do at least a full scan scan for:
viruses
AGV (

Spyware
Ad-aware (

Trojans
A squared 2 (

Er... now a bit of a long shot: an application of another kind of software
thingy might have affected your hosts file. (google adresses might be
pointing to an other ip adress)
First do a ping tho google.com.au (should be 216.239.39.104)
secondly, do a ping to google.com (should be 216.239.39.99)
If you get a compleet different IP numer you should take a look at your host
file:
Just file seach for the file "hosts" (no extention!). I believe it should be
in either Winnt\system32\drivers\etc or windows\system32\drivers\etc
But i'm not sure if you still use Win 95 or Win 98 (Then it has to be in the
windows directory somewhere)
You view the file with notepad
Search if there is an entree for google. If there is, I think deleting this
entry (the whole line) is the best option. Save the file (Be sure it does
not get a file extention. you cen either remove the .txt part in the windows
explorer or use the "file"--> "save as..." and select "all documents" to
save the file)
BTW am I the only one who hates the new xp (home ed.) way of searching and
editing unknown files. It takes way more actions as w2k does.
if this still has no avail, you can either - cals your isp, asking if they
fck-ed teir dns server, or pray tho the god(s) of your choise. Personally, I
found hiting the computer repeatedly not usefull but very stress relaving
(until it breaks, that is)
