Hello,

I need the precomp for a samsung HD model SV0432A which on its label
says:

cyl 8912
HD 15
SEC 63
Size 4.3GB

why precomp isnt written ? can it be calculated ? how ? what is
precomp ?

Please tell me precomp for this HD

If the PC says disk failure, I mean the bios doesnt see the HD, what
can I try to make it work ? is there an utilitie to check if this HD
is dead or working ? It used to work perfectly.

Thanks,

Mario

u can use ibm dft to check the drive, even if its not recognized by bios
(you may have to disable it in bios)

Nope, precomp is an irrelevant relic of the past.

You should be setting the drive type to AUTO
or AUTO AUTO if its a rather elderly system.
why precomp isnt written ?

Because precomp is an irrelevant relic of the past.

Yes, get the diagnostic from the samsung site.

It used to work perfectly.

All dead drives used to work perfectly.
