When I am logged on to the Internet but doing nothing (say at the Google
homepage) my received keeps on going up and up.

For example at the moment after 5 minutes its receahed 1.2mb and still
moving?

What is going on? What is being downloaded?

I have switched Automatic Updates so it can't be that.

All help much appreciated.

Regards, Hitesh

PS - 6 minutes : 1.49mb

For starters, take a look at the task manager and see which
applications are running. The only applications that should be
running are those you selected.

If you don't use SpyBot Search & Destory or Adware 6.0, you're missing
a rare opportunity to keep you computer free of problems.

In addition, you might run a check for trojans ... several worthy
programs to help that step.

Do you use a software or hardware firewall? If not, another strong
recommendation. And if you have a software firewall, the log will
help you identify what is going on with your issue.

Good luck with this problem.

I use ADWARE and there is no problem there.

I am on XP and use the firewall in XP.

What do I do next?

Right click on the tool bar (bottom) and select task manager. What
ever is running should be listed in that window. Look under
applications and perhaps you will see the source of your issue?
