i have a continuous upload that wasn't around until about a week ago. It seemed to coincide with the arrival of various adwares. I ran ad aware and removed the spyware but still have this upload stream. I installed zone alarm to find out what was trying to send data and mssync.exe kept coming up. It appears to be part of the legitimate system software but when i disable it the upstream stops. Otherwise I am able to use my internet connection. Around the same time I suddenly started having trouble with my network card. It would drop the connection, run slow, or I would not be able to log on. I have a new ISP but it worked great for the first two or three weeks. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone I'd love some input. At the very least I'd like to know what mssync.exe is, if it should be there, and why it seems to be involved in transfering continuous data.

Thanks

Good question. Ive come to the conclusion that it some kind of malware. Even though wasn't 100% sure I deleted it and the mystery stream stopped. Today there is a new file called msfirewall.exe that is doing the exact same thing. Im not finding references to these files anywhere so I'm wondering if this is a new one. My guess is that its some virus or some other bit of nastiness that creates these files randomly. SIGH. Fortunately zone alarm is able to cut it off. The screwy network connection issue was a hardware issue, as it turns out.
