McAfee Firewall alert to this wanting Internet access after WinDefend ran
auto scan. I thought the Spynet communications were handled throught the
Interface and MSAScui.exe. Also - one funny comment - after McAFee alerted
to this - WinDefend alert to something changing the autorun settings in
McAfee - and I got a McAfee popup offering 40% off complete security package.
They are tattling on each other! GOOD features, though.

With multple scanners, you will get some of this tattling, and as long as
you understand what's going on, it doesn't hurt much.

mpcmdrun is a command-line piece of Windows Defender which does two things:

1) it does scanning
2) it triggers and monitors signature updates.

You can find it in \program files\windows defender, and if you run it at a
command prompt it will show you syntax information.

My first impression was that it is a problem that McAFee/Hackerwatch and
WinDefend/Spynet do not "recognize" each others programs - "unknown" "no
info". On second thought, however, it enables WedDefend to monitor changes in
Firewall/Antivirus settings in case of unauthoized changes. This should
probably NOT be changed, but rather enhanced if possible. McAFee/Hackerwatch
on the other hand seem chronically behind in "recognizing" programs that are
widely used and not new. There's also no reason Hackerwatch should not know
the programs used by WinDefend by now! It seems ironic that
McAfee/Hackerwatch do not yet provide online firewall help info on Ewido
anti-malware, Trend Mirco's CWS Shredder, or Microsoft Baseline Security
Analyzer. I hope and trust that Spynet will do a better job providing info
for us than Hackerwatch regarding commonly used programs.

I'm not surprised that it isn't recognized yet. In fact, I wouldn't be
surprised if as a matter of policy, it remains unrecognized until it gets
out of beta.
