what is malware?

I have watched these groups and noticed and have been
advised of malware.

Can I be so dumb to think that it is malicious software

You can be so right to think that it is malicious software.

Another term that is sometimes used is scumware.

These are generic terms used to include viruses, trojans, advertising
spyware, browser home-page hijackers, and other similar pieces of
crud.

groups I will have to learn to think outside the square a
bit more.
