what is latest version of defender???

mine is 1.1.1347.0. a friend of mine overseas claims its 1.14.1404.6. I
did manual update and defender claims I have the lastest version. my friend
gave me this procedure:
Try this first:
Close Windows Defender
Go to Start | Run | paste in
Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}
Click OK
You will see an uninstaller in action. Just let it run. When it is
finished, start Windows Defender, and click on the help options down arrow
and select 'About Windows Defender'.
Then click on 'check for updates', then click OK.
It should update. The latest update is 1.14.1404.6
I ran this tool but still have the 1.1.1347 version as before. is his
version the latest??? if so how can get defender to upgrade???? thanks gary

Hello Engel.

My WD (on 2 machines) has the following versions:

WD version 1.1.1051.0
Engline version 1.1.1372.0
Signature version 1.14.1406.6

As you can read, I need to update the WD version: how can I do that?

Doesn't this update normally come through the automatic updates as the defs?
If it doesn't, it should, don't you agree?

Hi Steffo,
The following was recently posted by M Chan:

"Check for updates" will only get new versions of the engine and
definitions. There is a separate notification process for new versions of
the software. We plan to do the notification of a new version in the near
future if this build works for you guys. We do not want to tell millions of
people to update until we're sure that the quality of the product is high
enough - so test test test!!!
