What is: J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6 ?

The subject line program has installled itself without my knowledge.
Can anyone tell me what it is and if I may remove it.
It is 119mb in size.

I have read John's link but I do not have the extensive knowledge required
to understand what the programme is and why it's on my computer when it
wasn't before.

Please can anyone tell me?

Any novice suggestions welcomed.

Hi,

This is the latest Sun - Java update.

Older update are not uninstalled automatically.
Previous updates can be uninstalled via add/remove programs.

To set Java updates, go to Control Panel and double click on Java then
the Update tab. Changes can be made there.
