What is happening?

Perhaps you experts can answer.....

My NAV has been VERY active lately. Auto updates 3 or 4 times a day?

Strange other things like my firewall asking me about connections that I
know I've answered before etc.

One other thing....
After some of these "auto" virus updates, I immediatly went to the NAV
program itself and clicked live update.
Just one minute after the auto update.....live update finds new definition
files again?

In the past I would see the auto update "once in a while".

There is nothing wrong with that. Be happy you're getting the updates.

There could be Trojans or spyware attempting to get out, using the same
method or path, which leading to the same questions being asked by the
FW. What kind of of questions are you getting? Are you using AD-Aware and
or Spybot to scan for Trojans and spyware and remove them from the
computer?
One other thing....

Maybe, you have missed some in the past. You should do it manually until
it comes back and tells you there are no more updates.

Yeah...I'm using ad-aware, NAV and sygate.
I'll start writing things down.

It seems every time I do a manual update there is another file to
download.......used to be I would do it once every morning.....but lately I
never see "your NAV is up to date".

One other thing I noticed, is that when I do download a file(s), when it
installs, the "progress bar" moves just a little to the right but a message
does say that it's installed.

whatever.

Just all of a sudden unusual behavior lately.

file is ALWAYS 316.6 kb.... and then
it installs it.

I close NAV, do it again either immediately or anytime and it does the very
same thing.....downloads the "new" file...again 316.6 kb.

In addition to this, it seems I'm seeing auto update popup almost once an
hour now.

Appreciate any help.

I would try an online scan from Trend
http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
Since you may have a virus that is disabling NAV.

Hi, I'm no expert, but my Panda Titanium 04 AV has updated several
times a day during these last two or three global virus attacks. I'm
just glad it's keeping updated. They have to update the definitions
every time a new variant is discovered. It's getting so, if it
doesn't start updating first thing every day, I wonder if it's working
right. Paranoia breeds paranoia.

No prob. Bear in mind that if you want the defs as soon as Symantec release
them, 6 days out of 7 that's the place to get them.
