I tested my internet connections and it said http and https were connected
fine but FTP wasn't...What does that mean, do I have to fix it, or
is it ok?

Now is a great time to point you to one of the easiest ways to find
information on problems you may be having and solutions others have found:

Search using Google!
http://www.google.com/
(How-to: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/basics.html )

You have multiple Internet connections? When *you* say, "tested my internet
connections", what do you mean?

Unless you use FTP - you should leave well enough alone.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=what+is+FTP

On the Google home pageI clicked on tools and selected diagnose connection
problems and that is where (windows xp pro is what i am running)
i received the message. I am just wondering if there is something that I
need to
fix

See the answer...

Do you have an FTP site on your computer?
Do you use FTP sites?

Yes, FTP means file transfer protocol. Also, quite confusingly, FTP also
means File Transfer Program which employs the file transfer protocol.

If you don't know what FTP means then there is no need to fix anything, your
good to go.

Hi Donna,

If you aren't using an ftp process, then you don't need the ftp. ftp
stands for File Transfer Protocol and to use it, you have to enter data
to make it work. It's pretty likely that if you needed ftp you would
know it.
ftp is usually used in programs like ws_ftp, filezilla, web site
authoring programs, things like that.
You can likely ignore it if you don't think you use it. Should you
try for an ftp access, it'll tell you it's not set up and generally but
not explicitly what to do. I'm betting it won't happen. It is not
something you MUST fix. It's OK as is if you think you don't need it.

Looking up "ftp" in Help & Support will take you to a page with
information about it. Very few people use ftp with IE; it's usually with
another program as mentioned above.

It's OK. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, and it is something that
you will launch deliberately when you need to transfer files that way.

You can leave it as is and you don't have to fix anything.
