What is Default.PLS, get rid of?

Am working with Win Movie Maker and other DVD things. A "Default.PLS" file
appeared in folder and it says type of file is "shoutcast", 1KB. I wondered
if someone might know...

1) what's this file, and what's it do?

2) where'd it come from, can I tell software to stop generating it?

3) Can I just delete it w/o much consequence?
