What is causing IE and Word to stop responding?

Is this a spyware problem? It happens online in email when there is an
attachment and other times Word stops responding as well. I have Norton and
Adaware but I would like to know if there is a better spyware checker. I have
XP with Office 2000.
 
Don't know. This is a Microsoft ACCESS newsgroup. We help people build
databases in Microsoft Access.

Wot Rick said, but FWIW when I installed Spybot it found some junk that
Adaware never found.
